Effective Classroom Systems

April 22 - April 23

Event Navigation

This two-day event is designed to facilitate team learning and planning around Universal or Tier 1 Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports effective classroom practices. Classroom practices are those strategies essential to effective instruction and include: managing the classroom environment, encouraging/reinforcing appropriate behavior, responding to inappropriate behavior, active supervision, opportunities to respond, classroom expectations, routines and procedures aligned with school-wide expectations.

Learning Intentions

Participants will learn to:

  • apply implementation of the ten VTSS practices to their context including a demonstrated understanding of common errors;
  • develop a plan for the data collection, professional learning and coaching needed at the school and division level in order to promote the use of effective classroom practices;
  • assist others in their understanding of the connection of these foundational practices to equitable classroom systems to promote high achievement for all learners; and
  • understand how these foundational practices support the expectations of the 5 C’s outlined by the VDOE.

Who Should Attend?

This session of Effective Classroom Systems is designed specifically for administrators! We are especially excited to extend this invitation to administrators from divisions not yet involved in VTSS. This will be a great opportunity to learn about our work in schools across the Commonwealth and find out if being part of VTSS could be right for your division.

It is recommended that your division team should include principals/assistant principals and at least two teachers.
