Effective Classroom Systems

This two-day event is designed to facilitate team learning and planning around Universal or Tier 1 Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports effective classroom practices. Classroom practices are those strategies essential to effective instruction and include: managing the classroom environment, encouraging/reinforcing appropriate behavior, responding to inappropriate behavior, active supervision, opportunities to respond, classroom expectations, routines and procedures aligned with school-wide expectations.
Participants will learn to:
- apply implementation of the ten VTSS practices to their context including a demonstrated understanding of common errors;
- develop a plan for the data collection, professional learning and coaching needed at the school and division level in order to promote the use of effective classroom practices;
- assist others in their understanding of the connection of these foundational practices to equitable classroom systems to promote high achievement for all learners; and
- understand how these foundational practices support the expectations of the 5 C’s outlined by the VDOE.
Who Should Attend?
This session of Effective Classroom Systems is designed specifically for administrators! We are especially excited to extend this invitation to administrators from divisions not yet involved in VTSS. This will be a great opportunity to learn about our work in schools across the Commonwealth and find out if being part of VTSS could be right for your division.
It is recommended that your division team should include principals/assistant principals and at least two teachers.

This training is for pK-12 educational professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We reserve the right to cancel registrations of individuals who do not meet this criteria.

Certificates of Attendance will be distributed at the conclusion of the training. We do not issue formal Continuing Educational Units (CEUs).
All attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage.

VDOE/VTSS blocked rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity has been reached. Once the block is full, additional rooms cannot be added. All attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage. The applicable state rate on the date of check-in is offered for single, double, triple or quad overnight room accommodations.
You must guarantee your reservation with your personal/school credit card.
If you find you cannot attend the event, you must cancel the lodging reservations the day prior to arrival to avoid being charged one night's room + taxes. Rooms that are not cancelled in time on the day prior to arrival ("no shows") will be billed to your personal/school credit card.
