Student Conduct Policy within the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports (VTSS)

Learning intentions for Session B:
- Understand how levels of administrative response apply to student behaviors in the Model Guidance for Positive and Preventive Student Code of Conduct Policy.
- Identify the range of options within the levels of administrative response.
- Apply levels of response to categories of behavior.
- Use a social emotional learning and restorative lens to respond to scenarios.
Strand 1: Data-Informed Decision Making
Building upon Session A, Division Leadership Teams will assess their division’s progress in developing an integrated data dashboard, practice a clear process for data-informed decision making using data from their context, develop an action plan for providing professional learning and coaching at the school level, and analyze a “new” practice using the VTSS Selection of Evidence-Based Practices Too.
- Self-assess progress with action items within the implementation plan to provide division lea(s) and building-level teams with access to an integrated data dashboard (DCA #14 and #19);
- Practice a clear process for data-informed decision making with a focus on teaching and learning using their own data (DCA #15);
- Develop an action plan for providing professional learning and coaching on the school level on the problem-solving process (based on readiness);
- Analyze a “new” practice through the lens of the VTSS Selection of Evidence-Based Practices Tool and compare the process to standard methods for selecting new practices.
Strand 2: Academic Alignment
Participants will explore how the members of the Division Level Team can support school leadership by defining quality instruction, identifying evidence-based Tier 1 practices, and implementing data meeting structures at the school and division level.
- Develop a written description of quality Tier 1 academic instruction and create a system for communicating instructional expectations to stakeholders. (Matrix 3A)
- Examine existing evidence-based Tier 1 practices to create an inventory of division priorities related to academic instruction. (Matrix 3C)
- Develop a plan for implementing Tier 1 data meeting structures at the school and division level and determine how to measure the fidelity and effectiveness of the meeting structures. (Matrix 2C)
Strand 3: Advanced Tiers
In this session, participants will use data to create instructional tiered supports. They will use the Evidence-based Selection Tool to choose practices and identify quality instruction at advanced tiers. In order to determine the impact of intervention effectiveness progress monitoring data will be discussed.
- Build on Data-Informed Decision-Making to make instructional decisions and ways to adopt and support interventions for students requiring support at Tiers 2 and 3 (Matrix 2.B, 3.B)
- Create and/or analyze clearly defined continuum of supports that is culturally responsive and utilized to ensure an instructional match for all learners (Matrix 1.F, 3.C)
- Define advanced tiers and how schools will be supported to analyze data to determine the impact of interventions and make decisions to change the level of support (Matrix 2.C, 5.E)
- Integrate and align professional learning based on need (Matrix 1.G)
Strand 5: Family Engagement
Participants will continue to examine family and community data and respond to family engagement guiding questions.
With this information, teams will also draft or revise goals for increasing family and community voice and participation in systems change across tiers.
- Participants will examine family and community data collected since October and respond to guiding questions in each of six essential family engagement elements.
- Teams will draft or revise goals and action steps to both respond to areas of identified need and identify new opportunities for increasing family and community voice and participation in systems change, across tiers.

You must guarantee your reservation with your personal/school credit card.
If you find you cannot attend the event, you must cancel the lodging reservations the day prior to arrival to avoid being charged one night's room + taxes. Rooms that are not canceled in time on the day prior to arrival ("no shows") will be billed to your personal/school credit card.
Checking in: Important Information
A credit card and I.D. are required at check-in. A deposit hold will be placed on the credit card in an amount to cover the anticipated room, tax and incidental charges.
SPECIAL NOTICE: At the time of check-in, the use of a debit card will initiate an immediate deduction from the account associated with the card. The charges that will be immediately deducted from the account will be the amount of the full stay, plus a possible additional fee per night for any incidentals. Upon check-out, any unused funds will be credited back to the applicable account. Based upon the bank, it may take three to five days, or even longer, to process this transaction to the account.
