Systems Coaching Institute 101: Session A
November 7 - November 8
During this initial two-day session of Systems Coaching 101, division coaches will reinforce their knowledge of VTSS including core components, the implementation logic, and characteristics of a multi-tiered system of support. Participants will enhance understanding of the complex nature of systems change and strategies to affect change within their divisions. Participants will analyze and apply effective coaching practices to the tasks of installing sustainable tiered systems to support students in academics, behavior and mental wellness.
The learning intentions include:
- Build understanding:
- Using the VTSS Implementation Matrix, understand the critical features of VTSS
- Apply National Implementation Research Network’s (NIRN) Stages Of Implementation to VTSS implementation and evaluation
- Differentiate the purpose of the District Capacity Assessment and Tiered Fidelity Inventory with Academic Enhancements
- Build effective coaching skills and practices:
- Review NIRN skills
- Define the roles and responsibilities of systems coaching
- Establish norms and routines for effective and efficient collaboration
- Apply coaching skills for next steps:
- Apply initial exploration and installation activities and plan for coaching and facilitation of these activities
Who should attend?
VTSS Cohorts 1-5 and State VTSS Systems Coaches who have not previously attended.

How to Register
Attendees will register at the registration site. The deadline for registering is Friday, 11/2/2018.
Note: Registering for Session A does not automatically register you for Sessions B and C on January 8 and 9, respectively. If you wish to register or find out more about those sessions, please go to the event page.

VDOE/VTSS blocked rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity has been reached. Once the block is full, additional rooms cannot be added. All attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage. The applicable state rate on the date of check-in is offered for single, double, triple or quad overnight room accommodations.
You must guarantee your reservation with your personal/school credit card.
If you find you cannot attend the event, you must cancel the lodging reservations the day prior to arrival to avoid being charged one night’s room + taxes. Rooms that are not cancelled in time on the day prior to arrival (“no shows”) will be billed to your personal/school credit card.
Checking in: Important Information
A credit card and I.D. are required at check-in. A deposit hold will be placed on the credit card in an amount to cover the anticipated room, tax and incidental charges.
SPECIAL NOTICE: At the time of check-in, the use of a debit card will initiate an immediate deduction from the account associated with the card. The charges that will be immediately deducted from the account will be the amount of the full stay, plus a possible additional fee per night for any incidentals. Upon check-out, any unused funds will be credited back to the applicable account. Based upon the bank, it may take three to five days, or even longer, to process this transaction to the account.
