Systems Coaching Institute 101 Session A
September 11 - September 12
VTSS Systems Coaching Institutes are designed to develop the capacity within teams to raise a system’s ability to organize personnel and resources for prompting and encouraging local school training and implementation efforts.
The learning intentions for the Day 1 training are to:
- describe and apply the VTSS Framework;
- define the role of systems coaching and begin to develop a “job description”;
- utilize the cascading model of support and your role within your division;
- understand and relate to the philosophical principles of coaching; and
- discover the role of trust in creating an enabling and collaborative context.
The learning intentions for the Day 2 training are to:
- understand and apply the theory of managing complex change;
- understand and develop interpersonal skills; and
- assess current team functioning

The Systems Coaching Institute is for Division-Level Systems Coaches who have been in their role for a year, and who have the following foundational knowledge of VTSS:
- The VTSS Implementation logic
- Multi-tiered systems of support
- The VTSS Implementation Matrix
- Data-Informed Decision Making

Attendees will register at the registration site. The deadline for registering is Thursday, September 5, 2019, OR when the maximum number of registrations has been reached.

Note 1: Registering for this event automatically registers each registrant for all three training sessions of Systems Coaching 101; subsequently, attendance is expected at all three. Dates for each session are: Session A on September 11-12 and Session B on November 7 of 2019, and Session C on either January 8 or 9 of 2020. Session A will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Charlottesville; registrants will be notified once the date for Session C and location(s) for Sessions B and C have been confirmed.

Note 3: This training is for pK-12 educational professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We reserve the right to cancel registrations of individuals who do not meet this criterium.
Certificates of Attendance will be distributed at the conclusion of the training. We do not issue formal Continuing Educational Units (CEUs).
All attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage.

VDOE/VTSS blocked rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity has been reached. Once the block is full, additional rooms cannot be added. All attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage. The applicable state rate on the date of check-in is offered for single, double, triple or quad overnight room accommodations.
You must guarantee your reservation with your personal/school credit card.
If you find you cannot attend the event, you must cancel the lodging reservations the day prior to arrival to avoid being charged one night’s room + taxes. Rooms that are not cancelled in time on the day prior to arrival (“no shows”) will be billed to your personal/school credit card.
Checking in: Important Information
A credit card and I.D. are required at check-in. A deposit hold will be placed on the credit card in an amount to cover the anticipated room, tax and incidental charges.
SPECIAL NOTICE: At the time of check-in, the use of a debit card will initiate an immediate deduction from the account associated with the card. The charges that will be immediately deducted from the account will be the amount of the full stay, plus a possible additional fee per night for any incidentals. Upon check-out, any unused funds will be credited back to the applicable account. Based upon the bank, it may take three to five days, or even longer, to process this transaction to the account.
